Iran's negotiators stormed out of peace talks with the US and snubbed JD Vance last night after Donald Trump voiced his fury at Tehran.
In an expletive-laden outburst, the President threatened to "blow the s**t out of them", seize the Strait of Hormuz and take over Iran.
Some 80 minutes into the landmark meeting, talks were abandoned when discussions entered a "difficult phase" after "an insulting message by the US President", Iran's state news agency reported.
Earlier, Mr Trump had revealed that he told Iranian officials: "You close the strait and you won't have a country.
"You won't even make it back to your f***ing country... We'll take over the rest of the country," he added, according to Fox News.
"We may take over the Strait, if we have to. I'll blow the s**t out of them."
He then added on social media: "Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble. If they don’t, we'll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!"
The Iranians also refused to join a photo with Mr Vance - who had just hours earlier said the US hoped to "turn over a new leaf" with the Islamic Republic.
The talks in the Qatar-owned resort of Burgenstock in Switzerland were the first under the terms of the memorandum of understanding agreed last week.
But hopes of progress were swiftly dashed after Mr Trump warned that America would hammer Iran once again if it didn’t open the Strait of Hormuz and get a grip on its proxy terrorist groups.
On Saturday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared it was shutting down the waterway due to the continued fighting in Lebanon.
Iran had also hoped to talk about Lebanon on Sunday - where Israel’s military has been fighting the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group.
The talks were also supposed to focus on Tehran's nuclear programme and the reopening of the strait.
But Iran then scuppered hopes of negotiations, saying it would refuse to sit down with the US until the fighting ends and it gets its hands on billions of dollars in "reconstruction funds".
The Iranian delegation had been led by chief negotiator Mohammad Ghalibaf and included Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi alongside senior security, banking and oil officials.
After storming out the talks, Iran said they had "paused" - but not ended.
"We do not take American threats into account," bristled Mr Ghalibaf, after Mr Trump's threat.
"They would do better to be careful with their statements; our armed forces are ready to respond to them in a different manner. No matter what they say, we are the ones who act," he crowed.
In addition to Mr Vance, the American team included special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and its army chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, were also in Switzerland to help the sessions progress as mediators, alongside a Qatari delegation.
