Genderqueer singer King Princess has mocked the victims of the Titan submersible disaster by laughing during a video uploaded to TikTok.
The 24-year-old, whose great-great-grandparents died onboard the Titanic in 1912, later deleted the video.
King Princess' great-great-grandparents were co-owners of Macy's and she is distantly related to the wife of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush.
Rush was one of the five crewmembers who died during the Titan's implosion.
Speaking during her since deleted TikTok, King Princess said: "Like, look at my f****** family, right? Who wants to take a boat across the ocean?
"That sounds terrible. But they did it because they had the money to, and they died."
The 24-year-old, whose real name is Mikaela Mullaney Straus, added: "Oh, and rich people are not exempt from making really stupid decisions, obviously.
"Why do rich people go to space? You don't need to be there. You're not a f****** scientist.
"Because they make terrible decisions, constantly. I hate this world.
"One more thing: The sheer irony of these billionaires going down to visit the gravesite of other billionaires and then dying, is so crazy to me. Anybody else feel this way?"
King Princess finished the clip by bursting into laughter.
Despite deleting the TikTok video, the singer was slammed by many on social media.
A user said: "Bro your family owns Macy's, they are the bajillionaires."
Another wrote: 'The Macy's heiress being like 'how do you do fellow proletariat'."
A third commented: "But...aren't you??? Like??? Rich??????"
King Princess previous commented about her ancestors dying onboard the Titanic in 1912.
She said: "They were like, 'We’re going to die together now'.
"That's a crazy thing to say, a crunch time decision, and very my vibe.
"They were very rich and Jewish, [but] I didn't inherit any of this money.
"It was a little frustrating, but whatever."
