Your Freeview and Freely TV will unlock a new channel for FREE that used to be exclusive to Sky TV

Your telly is about to get treated to a free upgrade. TLC, which you could only watch if you paid for Sky or Virgin Media, will become completely free starting in January 2026.

You'll be able to watch the channel on Freeview and Freely without paying a penny. For those who don't know, Freely launched in the UK earlier last year as a successor to Freeview.

This comes as Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns TLC, is transforming the channel into a free-to-air entertainment service packed with popular American comedies and fresh British shows. The channel will join their other free services like Quest and Food Network in their refreshed lineup.

Prices start from just £119 for the latest crop of Freely TV deals from Currys. You'll need to switch to a new Smart TV that's designed from the ground up to support the latest Freely features to watch over 70,000 hours of on-demand content and more than 55 live channels over Wi-Fi

The channel's new lineup brings together American sitcom favourites with British originals. You'll get to watch The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, plus the brand new spinoff, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Mike & Molly join the comedy collection, too.

British comedy gets a boost with a reimagined Mock the Week, hosted by Roisin Conaty and Sara Pascoe. The pair will travel to the world's worst-reviewed destinations in this new format from Angst and Zero Stars.

TLC's classic shows aren't going anywhere, either. You'll still find Dr Pimple Popper, My 600lb Life and the entire 90 Day Fiancé collection, including the UK version.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

While there are several new shows you'll be able to watch for free, Warner Bros. will be scaling back on other offerings. Earlier this year, they folded Eurosport's UK brands into TNT Sports.

HGTV will also stop broadcasting as a regular TV channel in the UK, though you can still watch its shows on Discovery+ streaming.

If you love home and garden programmes, Really will take on selected HGTV shows from January. The company is simplifying things to focus on six free channels: Quest, Quest Red, Food Network, DMAX, Really and the revamped TLC.

The company hasn't revealed exactly where you'll find TLC on your channel guide yet. They're keeping the launch night schedule under wraps too, promising more details closer to January's big switch.

In addition to all of these changes, the company is also preparing to launch their Max streaming service in early 2026, which will house shows such as the Harry Potter series, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, and House of the Dragon. No official date has been confirmed yet.
