Nigel Farage rages at Sadiq Khan after black cab taxis BANNED from flying England flag during Euros

Nigel Farage has slammed Sadiq Khan after London cabbies were banned from flying England flags during the Euros in Germany.

The Reform UK leader, who is seeking to enter the House of Commons as the MP for Clacton, accused the London Mayor of "hating England" after TfL warned the capital's 125,000 taxi drivers face harsh penalties for flying flags.

In a four-word social media post, Farage said: “Khan really hates England.”

TfL announced its ban over, which includes other symbols and flags, amid concerns it could distract drivers and other road users.

TfL guidelines state: “Breaches of regulations could lead to a formal sanction - such as a warning, fixed penalty notice, prosecution or licence review.”

A TfL spokesman added: "For the safety of all passengers and drivers, we have guidelines about what can be displayed in or on taxis and private hire vehicles.

“Only official signs and stickers can be displayed.

“Any other signage or flags are not permitted because they could cause a distraction to other drivers and other road users.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Nigel Farage

Farage's latest spat with Khan comes after years of sparring, particularly as the pair felt differently in the 2016 referendum on EU membership.

Khan, who won re-election as London Mayor in May after bashing Brexit, previously accused Farage of showing "breathtaking ignorance".

The Reform UK leader separately criticised Khan for expanding his carbon-curbing Ultra Low Emission Zone to outer boroughs in August last year.

Farage's comments about Khan's flag ban come as Gareth Southgate's Three Lions prepare for their final Euro 2024 group game match against Slovenia tomorrow.

England defeated Serbia following a Jude Bellingham header in the opening game but were held to a 1-1 draw by Denmark just a few days later.

Victory against Slovenia would likely seal England's progress to the knock-out stage as Group C winners.

Farage's intervention comes as he also locked horns with fellow Brexiteer Boris Johnson over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking in Maidstone, the ex-Ukip MEP labelled Johnson: "The worst Prime Minister of modern times."

However, Johnson accused Farage of spouting "Kremlin propaganda" after the 60-year-old claimed the West had "provoked Putin stupidly" ahead of Russia's onslaught against the ex-Soviet state.
