A conversation with a Just Stop Oil activist got heated on GB News today as host Emily Carver slammed a spokesman for the group on plans to "target MP's homes during the general election."
Environmental activists are planning a nationwide campaign to "occupy' MPs" homes before the General Election, because MP's have "failed", according to a report from the Mail on Sunday.
The revelation comes after fears have been growing for the safety of MPs, who are facing violent threats and angry attacks on social media.
Tory politician Mike Freer recently revealed that he is standing down because death threats turned into a suspected arson attack on his office.
GB News hosts Ben Leo and Emily Carver spoke to a protestor and slammed the plan as "outrageous abuse."
Carver asked: "What gives activists of Just Stop Oil the right to target people's own private homes? That is outrageous abuse. Is it not?"
Doctor Bing Jones, a spokesperson for Just Stop Oil said: "Quite the opposite. People have targeted politicians since time immemorial.
"Politicians are paid to act. And we've had 30 years of not acting on the biggest problem that there has ever been."
Carver argued: "The UK has been very strong compared to other countries around the world in terms of reaching that net-zero goal and in terms of pursuing it.
"We were the first even to write it into law. So I think saying that the Government hasn't done anything is just nonsense."
He responded: "It's not nonsense. The Government has not done anything at the scale and pace that's required. And in fact, what they're doing is making it worse."
He later added: "Politicians have failed. They failed to act for 30 years."
He explained: "You don't need to be a climate scientist. You just need to be an ordinary person sticking your head out of the window, trying to get insurance for a business, trying to find a roofer to fix your roof.
"Ordinary people are aware things are really bad. We're not doing enough about it and we have got to Just Stop Oil.
"I'm a doctor, I've been looking after people all my life with very serious diseases and I can tell you if you've got cancer, you don't want to be told you've got cancer.
"If you've got to go and have a really big operation, you don't want to be told. Do you know what the problem is?
"The one thing you really don't want to be or don't want to happen is not to be told at all."
