Daniel Khalife: Police confirm sightings of escaped terror suspect as new description is released

Police have confirmed sightings of missing terror suspect Daniel Khalife as they release a new description.

Officers say "intensive" searches have been under way in Chiswick, West London after receiving calls from members of the public overnight.

Khalife is believed to be wearing a black baseball cap, black t-shirt and dark-coloured bottoms, and carrying a small bag or case.

Police in Chiswick have been stopping cars and asking residents for IDs this morning as they widen their search.

The terror suspect was believed to have escaped Wandsworth Prison wearing a chef's uniform on Wednesday.

CCTV footage shows the van that the 21-year-old had strapped himself to the bottom of driving down a busy southwest London road.

The former soldier held onto straps on the underside of the food delivery truck, however by the time the police pulled the vehicle over, he was nowhere to be seen.

According to the Met, Khalife was sighted shortly after his escape walking away from a food van and walking towards Wandsworth town centre.

Officers will now remain in the Chiswick area and are planning to carry out further search activity there through the day.

Authorities have issued a £20,000 reward for anyone who provides information which leads to Khalife’s direct arrest.

The ex-solider was declared missing on the morning of September 6 and the police were notified within 30 minutes.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement today: "We urge members of the public in that area to remain vigilant and call 999 immediately should they see Khalife, or if they have any information that could assist the search.

"Whilst we advise members of the public not to approach Khalife if they see him, we still assess that he does not pose a threat to the wider public."
