Woman appalled after ordering meal online that 'looked like it had been chewed'

A woman has been left appalled after ordering a meal online which looked like it had been “chewed”.

Radio producer Roshan Roberts fumed on social media after UberEats delivered the meal from a takeaway restaurant.

Roberts, who is a host of the BBC 1Xtra podcast If You Don’t Know, ordered orange fish and king prawn chow mein noodles but was surprised to open the takeaway.

Orange fish was listed on the restaurant for £6.99 and the king prawn chow mein noodles cost £10.99.

The producer also ordered chow mein

Roberts said on social media: “I ordered orange fish from a restaurant on UberEats.

“Please look at what I ordered vs what I got.

“And they don’t think I deserve a refund. When I googled the place it didn’t even come up.”

UberEats replied: "Thanks for getting back in touch. We are unable to offer you a refund or adjustment for this order.

“We understand that you are disappointed and want to let you know that we have processes in place to review this type of feedback. Thank you for your understanding."

Roberts responded: "There is no understanding. This is madness."

She later added: "I'm just tweeting because I really need the laughs at the moment… but through the comments I've discovered the orange really looks like it was chewed. So they wanted to kill me?"

Roberts also confirmed she was eventually provided with a full refund after her post received a lot of media attention.

The producer’s complaint was warmly received by other users on social media.

One simply wrote: "Wow that's appalling."

Other users called it “fraud” and “ridiculous”.

GB News has approached UberEats for comment.
